What steps to follow when planning the perfect kitchen
To design a perfect kitchen, it’s important to take into account various different features, like the kitchen cabinets, electrical appliances, sink and countertop. You must be absolutely clear about what you want, and a few specific steps must be followed to ensure a functional kitchen able to meet all your needs.
First, get your ideas straight. Think what your kitchen will be used for and what factors are absolutely essential; for instance, lots of storage space, big work surfaces, or a kitchen island to sit round with family and friends. It’s equally important to decide what style you want: minimalist, rustic, boho etc.
Once all this has been decided, it’s time to measure the room–not just the walls, but all the niches, corners, windows, the height of the ceiling and so on. Then it’s time to decide on the layout of the kitchen. This will depend on the available space and the arrangement of the room. Kitchens can be L-shaped, U-shaped, straight lined, in the form of a galley or designed around a peninsula or kitchen island. There are many possibilities, but it’s important to choose the one that fits in with the room.
The next step in planning your perfect kitchen is to choose the type and number of kitchen units and the necessary electrical appliances. To do this, among other things, you’ll have to decide on the location of the items, what storage space you’ll have, and the size of the fridge.
Lastly, once you’ve analysed the available space and your needs and preferences, it’s time to combine and situate the units and the electrical appliances. In a kitchen, there are five basic areas: the cooking area (for the oven, hob etc.), the food preparation area (a big worktop or work table), pantry area, sink area, and storage area (the units for storing utensils). The sink, cooking area and pantry area should all form a fluidly connected work triangle of the necessary dimensions and with the right distances to work safely and in comfort.
These are the basic points to bear in mind, although it’s always best to come and visit one of our showrooms so that our experts can help you with the design. They analyse the needs of each individual customer, coming up with solutions and ideas to ensure the best possible design.
